Thanksgiving 2011 – “Gratitude!”
As you may know, I live in rural Nova Scotia, Canada. Our Canadian “Thanksgiving” was a month ago, in October. But many of my friends and readers live in the US, Australia, UK, Philippines, etc and this is the magic of the internet. Write a bit of text, click and boom….It is all over the globe.
Is this something to give thanks for? I believe it!
Yesterday, Nov 23rd over a foot of snow fell where we live. This is very early for this much snow but as I look out my windows this morning I am aware of the amazing beauty that this little inconvenience brings. And…. I give thanks for the natural beauty of where I live.
My wife Nancy worked on making a quilt in her newly refurbished sewing room in glee and I worked quietly on my computer all day and we were at peace….And I give thanks for 40 years of marriage to a fine and gentle woman!
Recently, the Bay of Fundy was in the news, we live but seven miles from this incredible body of water which has the greatest rise and fall of tides in the world, over 60 ft. It was in the running for one of the “7 New Natural Wonders of the World”. It didn’t win, but for those of us who live here, we know of its majesty and power. And I give thanks!
And later , in the evening as Nancy slept, I spent an hour or so on Skype with my wonderful personal assistant M. in the Philippines who works tirelessly for me with incredible work ethics, intelligence and dedication…..wow, we can have folks work for us all over the world….Again, I give thanks!
She was working with a piece of software called WP-robot that makes stuff happen behind the scenes on some of our websites, just working away in the background. Click here to visit WP Robot.
This is just one of many tools that we could not imagine creating, but…..that are instantly available to us and work in the background while we do other things and even as we sleep and for this amazing and dependable tool….we give thanks!
And “lastly but not leastly”…their is you!….who have honored me with visits to our site and taken the time to join with me in our common quest to build something worthwhile using this incredible tool called the internet. To you….I give my deepest thanks and hope I can continue to earn your following. If you like what I write, send a link to your friends.
I was inspired to write this today by my friend Ken McCarthy of the “System” as he speaks of making “Thanksgiving” a daily event, not an annual one. In today’s post on his blog he says:
“Finally, if Thanksgiving makes sense once a week, why not once a day?A good meal, good company, peace and quiet, and attention not on the things that aren’t working, that need to be improved, that are still undone, but dedicated to enjoying and appreciating the many things good in our lives.”
A wise and thoughtful comment about how we all can show more gratitude for the blessings in our lives. And for mentors like Ken McCarthy….I give thanks. For more information on Ken’s work check this out – Smart Beginners HomeStudy Course
I have some interesting and new thoughts coming soon on my internet journey which I look forward to sharing with you.
Bless you my friends and where ever you are join me in giving thanks to those you love, for the gifts you have been given and to whatever “Power” you choose to follow.
